About Me
I was born in 1956 in Columbus, and attended various schools in Lincoln, San Jose, Modesto, and graduated from high school in Falls City in 1974. I received my bachelors in mechanical engineering from UNL in 1979, and accepted a position of designing and constructing power plants with a consulting engineering firm in Kansas City, including resident construction assignments in Iowa and Michigan.
In 1986, I answered the call to return to God’s country by employment with the City of Grand Island as assistant utilities director, responsible for their electric and water production facilities, ultimately being promoted to utilities director in 2011 with overall responsibility of the utilities department. In 1995, I went total native and married a local girl. Meeting Trudy was the best thing in my life. Some of my highlights in Grand Island included earning my masters in engineering management from UNL, owning a couple of boats, having an equity position in the Platt-Duetsche, and knowing my friend Bender.
Upon retiring from the City in 2023 on my 67th birthday, in order to be closer to family, we decided to move to Fremont and a beautiful new home built by Trudy. To describe Fremont as “Grand Island on a smaller scale” would be accurate, and it has met my expectations. We are enjoying the opportunities to be more involved with family and the amenities of the nearby metropolitan areas.
