About Me

Frank Alison Reese was born on August 30, 1919 in Kearney, NE to Floyd Frank and Hazel Martha (Colton) Reese.  He had one sister, Gertrude “Trudy”, just one year younger.  Frank grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1937.  He then worked as an assistant manager of Safeway grocery stores in Kearney and Cozad.

Frank entered the U.S. Army on December 23, 1940 and served during World War II in Northern France, Normandy, Central Europe, and the Rhineland.  He received the Good Conduct Medal and the American Defense Service Ribbon.  He was discharged on July 30, 1945.

He married Betty Penwell on December 24, 1941 in Omaha.  After the service, they returned to Kearney where he returned to work for Safeway for another 9 years.  In 1954, he began a 33 years career with Presto-X Co., living in North Platte and Grand Island.  He retired in 1987 as the Manager of the Western Division.  Retirement brought a lot of putzing, traveling to old pest control customers just to check up on them, attempts at golf, volunteering at the Veteran’s hospital, and driving Betty nuts until heart issues slowed him down.
