About Me
I was born on September 13, 1946, in Kearney, Nebraska, and spent my childhood in Kearney, Cozad, Wood River, and North Platte.
I graduated from North Platte High School in 1964 and immediately began working as a professional pest control technician for Presto-X Pest Control, my father's employer.
With the draft approaching, I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in February 1965. After completing boot camp, I attended language school at Indiana University to study Russian.
During my service, I focused on intercepting and analyzing Russian Air Force communications.
Upon my discharge in 1968, I returned to Grand Island, NE, where my family had relocated. It was there that I met Patricia Joan Noble. We married on July 12, 1969, and moved to Lincoln, NE, where we had two sons, Ryan and Kyle.
I began my career in optical retail with Pearle Optical as a Manager Trainee. Over the years, I advanced to the position of Divisional Vice President, which required several relocations, including to Lincoln, NE; Columbus, OH; Plano, TX; and Chicago, IL. After 18 years with Pearle, I continued my career with other optical firms, living in Houston, TX; Bel Air, MD; and New Orleans, LA.
In New Orleans, I transitioned to a new role as Vice-President of Retail Operations for Goodwill Industries, SELA. This period also included surviving Hurricane Katrina and the loss of my wife of 38 years to cancer in 2007. In 2008, through the power of the internet, I reconnected with Patricia James Scott, a high school crush. We maintained a long-distance relationship until 2011, when she retired and moved to New Orleans. In 2017, I retired as well, and we now reside in Fort Worth, TX.
