About Me
Some time after I was born we moved to Nebraska where both parents had grown up. We lived in Kearney, Cozad, Wood River (my favorite place), and North Platte. (A brief aside about Wood River: Looking back it’s my favorite because in the summer we would tear out of the house in the morning. Mom would yell after us, “Be sure you’re home for supper.” It was a different time.)
Graduated HS in North Platte, 1961, and worked as a part time after hours bakery cleaner, part time dry cleaner delivery truck driver, part time corn detassler, part time Safeway produce dude, full time out of work traveler to California in the MG, full time Asst. Circulation Manager for the North Platte Telegraph-Bulletin newspaper. I was basically a full time no goals no plans borderline worthless, “where’s the party?” dude.
In July/Aug 1964 I joined the Air Force. I was sent to the University of Indiana to learn Russian. Bob and I ended up there together for a short time. Spent the next year in San Angelo, TX, Goodfellow AFB learning what to do with Russian. In late 1965 I was sent to Wiesbaden, Germany for 2 years. After I got out in 1968, I was still devoid of any thoughts for the future so I went to college in Lincoln for a BA, then to Arizona for an MBA in 1971. Before we left Lincoln, Karen Paulus and I got married.
Moved to Denver 1973 and worked as a Bank Examiner and then for Portfolio Evaluation, a company breaking ground with computer based investment analysis for banks and investment organizations, In 1978 I was hired by Nebraska State Department of Education as Information Systems Manager and later became Director of Technology. Retired somewhere in there and dedicated my life to tennis and mountains.
In Lincoln, Karen and I separated and Kathleen and I got married. Her career took us from Lincoln to Little Rock to Oklahoma City where we still, grumpily, reside.
